The Healthcare
Health Check.
A field-based research study for hospital and health system leadership
Most healthcare organizations know something isn’t working. Patients wait longer than they should. Staff develop workarounds nobody officially approved. Handoffs between departments break down quietly. These friction points are almost invisible from the inside; they’ve become part of the daily routine. The Healthcare Health Check is a structured ethnographic study that goes where the work actually happens, and returns with a clear, evidence-based picture of what to address first.
Egypt’s healthcare sector is digitizing rapidly under the Universal Health Insurance program, with over 1,300 active hospital projects underway. New Hospital Information Systems (HIS) are being rolled out faster than workflows are being redesigned to accommodate them. In practice, that shows up as inconsistent interfaces across departments, no clear prioritization of what to fix first, and no shared roadmap tying HIS investment to actual workflow change. The Health Check bridges that gap — ensuring investment in technology translates into real improvements in how care is delivered.
